Driving on our local rural roads

According to NFU Mutual’s latest analysis of Department for Transport figures, there were 70% more deaths on Britain’s rural roads in 2023 than there were on urban roads. Collisions on rural roads are also around four times more likely to result in a fatality.
Countryside roads have unique and diverse hazards which are often entirely different to those on urban roads and require a specific set of skills and awareness.

Read about them in the NFU Mutual’s handbook, copy attached here.

NFU Mutual’s Code for Countryside Roads is intended as a guide for everyone on the safe and respectful use of rural roads to reduce the tragic and avoidable loss of life in our countryside.
The Code is supported by the farming unions of all four nations, the British Horse Society, Older Drivers Forum, the Farm Safety Foundation, and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), and has been produced with input from these partners and members of the public to ensure common concerns are addressed.
This is not a legal document and focuses purely on advice for those using rural roads, which have unique hazards not experienced in urban areas. All road users should adhere to the rules in the Highway Code.

Let’s look out for everyone when driving.

If so you can help our churches without costing yourself or the churches a penny.  We have joined the EasyFundRaising Scheme which gives a small fraction of money spent with many retailers to charitable causes. You can find out all about the scheme at    https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/wychbrook-churches?&utm_term=A2302

To use this scheme simply register on the website www.easyfundraising.org.uk and indicate that you wish the funds you raise to go to Wychbrook Churches (Stoke Prior, Wychbold and Upton Warren  would be too much of a mouthful). You can then download an app which will alert you when you shop if the retailer gives to the scheme. So far few people have joined, please do register to support us.

If you are booking your holiday on line you could raise a useful sum for the churches without costing yourself anything.
