The parish council usually meets on the fourth Monday of every month but this may change over the coming year, so please check the date, time and venue on this website and on the agenda for the meeting you wish to attend. Everyone is welcome. There is opportunity at each meeting for members of the public to speak to the council and ask questions.
The council consists of thirteen councillors including a Chair and vice-Chair, and one member of staff, the Clerk. If a councillor vacancy occurs on the council it will be advertised via the notice boards and website.
The parish consists of two wards, the Dodderhill ward which consists of 12 member councillors and the Impney ward which is represented by one parish councillor. All seats for the Dodderhill ward were contested in May 2023, there was no contest for the Impney ward. The next council election will be in May 2027.
Dodderhill Parish Council is the closest tier of local government to the community. As we are on the doorstep, parish councils are often the first port of call for residents with concerns or ideas about their neighbourhood and for this reason they are a vital part of any community.
Parish councils have a wide range of powers, duties and responsibilities which are essentially related to local matters. Here are just some of our responsibilities:
The pledge states Dodderhill Parish Council will:
● Treat all councillors, clerk and all employees, members of the public, representatives of partner
organisations and volunteers with civility and respect in their role.
● Put in place a training programme for councillors and staff.
● Sign up to Code of Conduct for councillors.
● Have in place good governance arrangements including staff contracts and Dignity at Work Policy.
● Commit to seek professional help at early stages should civility and respect issues arise.
● Commit to calling out bullying and harassment if and when it happens.
● Continue to learn from best practice in the sector and aspire to being a role model / champion
council e.g., via Local Council Award Scheme.
● Support the continued lobbying for the change in legislation to support the Civility and Respect
Pledge including sanctions for elected members where appropriate.
It was signed on behalf of the council by the Chair.
