Update to M5 repairs, J8

National Highways have been in touch with an update regarding the ongoing repairs to the carriageway on the M5 at junction 8 which is near completion.

The previous posting stated full carriageway closures would end on 19th July; an update has now been received stating that whilst National Highways are pleased to confirm their work at this location (j8, M5) continues to be near completion, unfortunately, due to weather conditions, they have been unable to complete some work as planned and will need to return on Monday 22 July 2024. Work will be undertaken overnight whilst traffic is lower, between 8pm and 6am.

To maintain safety, a full carriageway closure of the M5 southbound between junction 7 and junction 9 will be installed during work.

They will also install a closure of the M50 eastbound between M50 junction 1 and M5 junction 8.

The attached map shows the fully signed diversion route that will be in place during the closures.

National Highways advise you to please plan ahead and allow additional time for your journey.

Every effort is made to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. National Highways always aim to work to the programme; however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
